Warship

It’s funny how in all those dumb award shows that pass on tv, the nominees for “best new artists” always consist of old artists. Maybe it’s just me, but I always thought that the “best new artist” category should consist of actual new artist. The name is such a misnomer; if anything it should be called best new face on mtv.

Well in a perfect world, where the best new artist category consisted of new artist, the award would go to Warship. This newly created Long Island band consists of former band members of From Autumn To Ashes, Francis Mark and Rob Lauritsen. At first one may think that they probably sound excatly like From Autumn to Ashes, but you’d be surprised.

Yes, it probably is the closest thing we’ll ever get to From Autumn To Ashes, but the sounds are completely different. Warship’s sound is thicker and heavier and FATA’s  is faster. But that’s besides the point, Warship is an awesome new band that everyone should listen to, even if you were against FATA’s indefinite hiatus.

I see no other band more deserving than Warship. In such a short time, Warship has already recorded and released their first new album, Supply and Demand (which consist of ten tracks), and gone on tour with Reggie & the Full Effect. It’s rather astounding how much Warship has done for a new band. The album is actually very good and does not sound rushed. Songs I recommend would be “Wounded Paw” and “We’ve Never Been Equal.”
