From Autumn To Ashes

Although nothing has been heard from FATA and in fact they broke up last June, I still had to write something about my favorite band. From Autumn To Ashes is one of those bands that I will forever love. FATA’s “indefinite hiatus” is definitely going down on the list of top 10 worst occurrences of 2008.
One bad quality of From Autumn To Ashes? No such thing. Every song and album by this band was great. Lyrics are great, beat is great, and vocals are great. Their strategy of coalescing singing and throat screaming is pure genius. Actually, From Autumn To Ashes is one of the first few bands to latch on to this technique.
It’s sad to see great bands fall apart but the music lives on. Just because From Autumn To Ashes is no longer together, doesn’t mean we can’t still listen to their music. In FATA’s eight year history, the line-up had changed but their music was always great.
Francis Mark and Rob Lauritsen have started a new band called Warship. Brian Deneeve is working on a new band called Summer Law. Jeff Gretz is still drumming for various other bands such as Zao and Conelrad. Nothing heard of from Mike Pilato yet.
